Play with friends: four steps in Early Access

Three staff in white head scarves run past the counter carrying blue produce crates and a wooden tray through the Japanese Ramen Simulator dining room at 0:08, with a shuriken stuck in a wooden target on the counter corner
PHASE 01

Step 1: Put everyone on the same Steam build

Host and guests should both run v0.1.50.17746 or newer (update Steam and the game). Windows PC on Steam only; minimum specs list Broadband Internet. Each player buys on their own account (Family Sharing is listed on the store). Check live pricing on Steam. If you cannot connect, start at /guides/multiplayer-troubleshooting.

📸 Opening prep is a team job in the trailer too — three staff, three deliveries, one shop (0:08).

PHASE 02

Step 2: Assign the Five Confirmed Roles Before Opening

The official store description spells out how co-op works: "Divide preparation, cooking, serving, customer service, and cleaning among your friends, and work together to handle the rush." 4Gamer words it as prep (shikomi), cooking, plating, service and cleanup. With six players, give each friend one job plus a floater; with two or three, bundle jobs together. Playing solo is also officially supported — hire part-time staff and run the shop at your own pace. The co-op roles guide linked below turns these five jobs into a shift table.

📸 One kitchen, three workers, separate stations — the basic shape of a co-op shift (0:19).

PHASE 03

Step 3: Agree Who Preps and Who Assembles at the Pass

The menu is bigger than ramen: the press release confirms gyoza, donburi rice bowls and beer as side menus, and toppings are placed with physics, so no two bowls ever come out identical. The trailer shows a pass loaded with a chili-topped chashu bowl, three bowls of rice, a plate of three peeled boiled eggs and two red bowls of drained noodles — a line that only stays clean when one friend owns prep, another assembles bowls and a third runs food. Agree that split before opening so orders do not pile up at the window.

PHASE 04

Step 4: Invite, join, and when connection fails

Early Access uses Steam friend invites and invite codes (friend-invite model; no public matchmaking lobby seen on the store page — player reports). Steam Cloud saves; spatial voice is on the store page — Discord is optional. On failure, note the error code shown in v0.1.50.17746+ and use /guides/multiplayer-troubleshooting; track patches on /changelog.

Multiplayer FAQ

Q1.How many players does Japanese Ramen Simulator support?

Up to six players in online co-op, and single-player is supported too. Steam lists Online Co-op among the official features, and the store description calls it "a ramen shop management sim for up to six players."

Q2.Can you play with friends in Japanese Ramen Simulator?

Yes — split prep through cleanup, and visit friends’ shops to leave a signature. Early Access uses Steam friends and invite codes. If you cannot join or invites fail, use /guides/multiplayer-troubleshooting.

Q3.Is there public matchmaking or a random lobby?

The store emphasizes Online Co-op for up to six with friend invites. Players looking for random match lobbies often report none; we have not confirmed matchmaking on the store listing (community).

Q4.Is Japanese Ramen Simulator crossplay?

Only PC via Steam (Windows) is listed, so everyone is on the same platform today. Console versions would be a separate announcement.

Q5.Does Japanese Ramen Simulator have split screen?

Not confirmed. The Steam page lists Online Co-op only — no Local Co-Op or Shared/Split Screen category — and no press material mentions split screen. Plan for each friend playing on their own PC.

Q6.How much does Japanese Ramen Simulator cost for co-op?

The store lists US$14.99 (launch discount around US$12.74 depending on region and timing). Each friend needs their own copy; Steam Family Sharing is listed. Wild Dog’s gradual price-rise policy for major content still applies to new buyers.

Q7.Is this the same game as Ramen Shop Simulator?

No — they are different games with confusingly similar names. Japanese Ramen Simulator (developed by Wild Dog) is the one with 1-6 player online co-op. Ramen Shop Simulator is a single-player-only shop management game launching November 3, 2026. Our name-comparison page untangles all four similarly named ramen games.
